The 1st Annual Africa Mid Year Dinner was held on the 24th of July 2010 at Jika International Hotel in Fairfield. It was an evening of dining, entertainment and a showcase of contemporary African culture.

Patrons enjoyed a three course dinner, and live entertainment.

There were raffles featured which were sponsored by Apex Beauty and Nail Supplies and Natsai Mbire

The event was hosted by the hostess with the mostest Poni Tongun!

Entertainment was provided by upcoming local African Australian artists,  Riv and The Sixtet, The African Star Dance & Drumming Company/Asanti Dance Theatre featuring Tariro Mavondo who also performed some heart felt "spoken word" that touched the audience, DJ Rasta and comedian Tshaka Chondo.

Building on the success of the 1st Africa Ball’s held in December 2009 the Mid Year Dinner promised to be a great event and we are glad to announce it more than lived up to expectations.

The vision is to bring together professionals from diverse backgrounds and cross-cultures for an evening of social and professional networking.

The idea is to encourage and celebrate continuing contributions and achievements of African professionals and business owners in mainstream Australia.

There is an increase in emerging entrepreneurs and an increase in various and diverse professional disciplines and we identified a need to link these people in a social and relaxed environment. There has also been an increase in the number students graduating from higher learning institutions who need support and guidance and this provides an opportunity to meet potential mentors and create a support network
